Origin of Shorts

Shorts were Spanish breeches in sixteenth century – it was Spanish tradition to wear short trousers because the climate allows doing that. According to research, the fashion of wearing classic short trousers came from Spain to England. You know that time high circles men were wearing rich suits, silk shirts with ruffles around collar and short breeches and, of course, stockings to cover legs. The trousers looked like lanterns – puffed – and were fastened about legs with buttons or draw-strings. Those trousers appeared to be a prototype of modern shorts. Then they were transferred to America as a new style of shorts. During the World War II shorts were worn by soldiers of the British Army and later Royal Navy. Today shorts are a part of everyone’s wardrobe not only in the countries with hot weather but also in the north of America and other places. They are good for wearing due to their short style – they are comfortable for walking, running or hiking.

If you are wearing shorts, you will never be embarrassed to sit down everywhere, climb a fence or a tree and run around if you need. They are usually made from cotton or any synthetic material that is easily cleaned and washable. They are comfortable anyway.
